Sunset in Sorrento

When I woke up this morning, I had a fresh nightmare stamped into my brain. The exact details were lost in the first visions of sunlight, but the emotions of loneliness and helplessness prevailed even when I managed to heave myself out of bed.
A few weeks ago, any nightmares seemed impossible. Traveling abroad, surrounded by friends, I fell asleep happy and woke up from dreamless nights the next day. It was perfect there in Italy. And this dream of an adventure seemed more surreal than the nightmare from which I had awoken.
So now I’ll stare at my pictures again, close my eyes, and watch that sunset in Sorrento. And maybe, just maybe, all the nightmares will fade away.
